Storytellers, and mother-daughter, Deborah Costa and Kristine Renee fully invest themselves into every project to develop inspiring spaces for their clients. In addition to their award winning design firm, the partners also curate an eclectic retail store and operate a sister company, Staged by Alchemy, focused on high-end residential merchandising in Northern California.
Deborah honed her creative skills during her 15 year tenure designing video game studios internationally for entertainment giants Sega and Sony before launching her own practice in 2002.  A relationship builder with extensive experience in and around construction, Costa has successfully completed thousands of projects for satisfied clients around the globe.
Focused on bringing innovative design strategies to furniture and environments, Kristine has been “in the business” her entire life.  While obtaining her Liberal Arts degree she lived and studied art and architecture in Europe and following graduation was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to study and research in Southeast Asia.  During her time abroad Kristine focused her efforts on developing relationships with craftspeople throughout Southeast Asia to source unique pieces for production and purchase. The roots of Kristine’s designs stem from these multi-cultural experiences.
In 2012, Deborah and Kristine united forces to launch their global design practice.  Refusing to be stagnant, the Design Alchemy team recognizes that diverse human interaction and exploring new cultures are key components to staying fresh and inspired.  Therefore, they adventure to foreign geographies, international and domestic furniture markets and regional craft fairs each year to remain relevant.
