Alexandra Loew is an architect and interior designer who likens the design of a home to the making a movie – the clients are the stars, and the house a supporting character for the story to unfold.
After her first career as a filmmaker, she went to architecture school and combined her love of design with story-telling. Her motto is, Form Follows Fantasy.
Alexandra has no singular style. Instead, there is a signature process: listening, problem-solving and the key ingredient, a generous dose of fantasy & invention. Our in-house architecture team thoughtfully researches historical methods while experimenting with contemporary materials. Rooms are filled with unique collections of furniture and decorative arts that bring the narrative to life. The resulting spaces are vivid, refined, and unexpected. This personalized approach has garnered a loyal following of clients and editors who appreciate the informed perspective and clarity of vision.
The studio is as passionate about history and heritage as it is wellness and the environment. It incorporates low impact and healthy materials, and sources vintage as much as possible.
Current projects include Guest Curator and Designer for an exhibition on contemporary furniture at SF MoMA (February 2021), Creative Director for a venture capital-backed start-up of small houses (DADUs), private residences, and a debut collection of fabric, carpets & wall coverings. And the newest endeavor, a division dedicated to design at the intersection of well-being. Under development are facilities for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and hospice care.
